A WBF Publication
Deanna Flaherty is a recent graduate from Suffolk University Law School, earning her Juris Doctor in 2015. She was awarded the school's Pro Bono Service Award for most pro bono hours completed during her time there. She has worked at the Legal Advocacy and Resource Center since 2013, first as a Student Intern, then as a Staff Attorney, and finally as Assistant Program Director. In addition to her work with underserved and elder clients at LARC, she has volunteered at both the VLP/WBF Family Court Clinic and the Family Court Answer Center.
Although Attorney Flaherty has only volunteered with the WBF since spring of 2016, she has assisted numerous clients. Her first case involved a young mother who was involved in a drawn out divorce with an overseas and abusive father. Despite the challenges of gathering information from an unforthcoming father and dealing with an intransigent opposing counsel, she was able to successfully advocate for this client in countless hearings ranging from motions and contempts to a 209A extension and even a trial. Her compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail resulted in a very calm and satisfied client.
