Thank you for your interest in the Family Law Project! The Family Law Project (FLP) recruits, trains, and mentors pro bono attorneys to assist low-income survivors of domestic violence. Taking a case gives volunteer attorneys invaluable opportunities to work directly with clients.
This training covers the basics of advocating for clients in 209A Abuse Prevention proceedings. It will provide you with an overview of 209A law and procedure and walk you through the process of preparing for and conducting a 209A hearing. We will also discuss the dynamics of an abusive relationship and provide you with the information and skills that you need to advocate for survivors of abuse in court.
When: Tuesday, June 22, 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM on Zoom
Presenters: Sarah Lee, Staff Attorney with the Volunteer Lawyers Project; Laura Burnett, Family Law Project Staff Attorney with the Women's Bar Foundation
No prior family law experience is required. You must be a licensed attorney in Massachusetts to take this training. Zoom link will be sent after registration.
