Thank you for your interest in the Family Law Project! The Family Law Project (FLP) recruits, trains, and mentors pro bono attorneys to assist low-income survivors of domestic violence. Taking a case gives volunteer attorneys invaluable opportunities to work directly with clients.
The Family Law Project will be Virtual! This training will take place in five sessions over the course of two weeks. Participants will receive links to a recorded trainings to watch as their schedule permits in chunks approximately one hour. We will then log on to a live Zoom meeting scheduled for one hour where presenters will go over a PowerPoints and answer your questions. Trainees will also be presented with a hypothetical case that they will discuss in the live sessions. The training schedule will be as follows. If you are not able to attend more than one session, please contact Lola Remy at lremy@womensbar.org before you register.
No prior family law experience is required, and you must be licensed in Massachusetts. Every volunteer attorney is assigned an individual mentor, an experienced family law practitioner, who provides an additional level of service and support. Volunteers also receive a comprehensive training manual, access to the FLP listserv and the legal resources at the WBF.
