With a rich history and a collaborative team of highly skilled attorneys, we have served our clients with integrity and professionalism for nearly 50 years. Our firm is committed to providing partner involvement on every matter and delivering effective solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of each client.

“Casner’s commitment to the firm’s women lawyers is a long-held core value that is a part of our overall dedication to diversity. Our firm is fortunate to have a strong group of women attorneys at both the partner and associate levels. Forty percent of our legal team are women, which consistently surpasses the national average for law firms, and representation by women in the firm’s senior management ranks continues to increase. Continuing our membership in the Women’s Bar Association is an important part of advancing our mission to support women lawyers, both within and outside the firm.” - Katie L. S. Von Kohorn, Co-Chair of the firm’s Women’s Initiative and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

Casner & Edwards works hard to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace that is accepting of everyone’s backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We strive to have a culture where inclusiveness is not an ideal, but a functional part of the firm that unifies us in our shared commitment to excellence, innovation and social responsibility. We know that different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds create a stronger and more creative work environment that delivers better results, and we are committed to having a workforce that is diverse in every aspect of the word.

To help achieve our goals, the firm has a Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee, which is comprised of partners, associates and professionals of varying backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. The DEI Committee is an advisory body on matters regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion across the firm, and is charged with recommending:

  • Specific actions and programs to recruit, retain, and promote talented individuals representing a diversity of backgrounds and experience, with a focus on individuals from historically underrepresented groups, including women;
  • Best practices for an inclusive environment in which attorneys and staff are respected, supported, and provided with opportunities to succeed; and
  • Opportunities for promoting and communicating the firm’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Casner also has a Women’s Initiative, which addresses issues of importance to women at the firm. Business development and networking are key components of the committee’s focus and committee members work to create and nurture new connections to support each other’s practices.

The Women’s Committee produces and oversees a number or programs, including:

  • Holds regular committee lunches where women attorneys can exchange ideas and share strategies for success;
  • Hosts a variety of events to provide forums for interacting with businesswomen, corporate counsel, and various women's organizations in the region;
  • Holds educational programs that feature prominent women business and community leaders;
  • Organizes social events for the firm’s women attorneys; and
  • Supports charitable organizations that help women in need.
