The firm represents a diverse range of clients, including many of the Fortune 50 companies in the U.S.
Ogletree Deakins is committed to cultivating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at all levels is an essential component of the firm’s strategic thinking and one of our core values. We are creating a culture where our colleagues see their differences as an asset and a strength, and can achieve their full potential.
We want to partner with organizations that share this same commitment, and are dedicated to making investments to further impact and advance DEI. We look forward to working with the Women’s Bar Association to help strengthen and serve the needs of diverse communities.
We are focused on elevating women and diverse shareholders to leadership positions. Our board of directors is currently 55 percent diverse. Our current Board member and Managing Director, Liz Washko, has been elected to succeed Mathew Keen as the firm’s Managing Shareholder. She will be the first woman to hold this position in the history of our firm. The firm’s Compensation Committee is 40 percent diverse and , in 2022, we appointed our first woman of color to the Committee. Our 2023 class of new shareholders was 56 percent diverse and 46 percent of the Office Managing Shareholders are diverse.
ODWIN, our firm-wide women’s initiative, launched mentoring circles which bring together women attorneys of different experience levels and practice areas in small groups to discuss professional development, work-life balance, networking, and other career issues. Our mentoring circles provide a unique opportunity for women attorneys to engage with, support, and learn from those they may not interact with regularly. Separately, our ODWIN Sponsorship program continues to bolster the advancement of top-performing women non-equity shareholders to equity shareholder status. Paired with equity shareholders, the participants gain support, exposure, business development opportunities, and career guidance.
Ogletree achieved Mansfield Certification in 2022. As a Mansfield participant, we certify that for leadership roles and other meaningful advancement opportunities within the Firm, at least 30 percent of attorneys we consider will be women lawyers; lawyers from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups; lawyers with disabilities; and/or LGBTQ+ lawyers.
