WBA APPLAUDS THE CONFIRMATION OF ASSOCIATE JUSTICE BLAKE TO CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE APPEALS COURT
The Women’s Bar Association of Massachusetts (WBA) applauds the recent appointment of Associate Justice Amy Lyn Blake to Chief Justice of the Appeals Court.
“The WBA congratulates Justice Blake on her appointment, which is a historic appointment for the Appeals Court,” stated WBA President Alexandra Mitropoulos. “Increasing representation of women at all levels of the judiciary, including the Chief Justice of the Appeals Court, ensures the judiciary is composed of justices reflecting a cross-section of life experiences. Increasing representation improves trust in our judiciary and strengthens our democracy."
The Honorable Amy Lyn Blake previously served as an Associate Justice on the Appeals Court since 2014. She is the first woman to lead the Appeals Court. Prior to her appointment to the Appeals Court, Chief Justice Blake served as an Associate Justice on the Probate and Family Court, beginning in 2008. Before joining the bench, Chief Justice Blake was a partner at Casner & Edwards, LLP, worked as an associate and a partner at White, Inker & Aronson, P.C. and as associate at Yasi & Yasi, P.C., as well as an Assistant District Attorney for the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office. She teaches as an adjunct faculty member at New England Law Boston. She graduated from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York in 1987 and graduated cum laude from New England Law Boston in 1992.
Justice Blake fills the Chief Justice seat left by retiring Chief Justice Mark Green.
